Lets go on an adventure Charlie!

Today I went on an epic little adventure to see whats close to me. I didnt find much. Just this old ruined house.

I also have a wonderful view of my favorite volcano Etna.

Not exactly sure where the horse and carriage keep coming from. But it passes the front of the apartment frequently. This horse actually freaked out because that dark blue car in the picture honked. I was amused.

We went grocery shopping the other day at Conad.

This is the parking lot of the building. It looks abandoned when there are not any cars.

I found Mister Clean... and he is not happy.

Our landlords gave us a crate of oranges. Delicious oranges. I'm not sure why but I'll accept. I'm never going to be able to eat all of them though.

When I say Sicily is dirty.....

This is what I mean :

People tend to just dump their garbage anywhere there is space. Particularly along the roads. I'm not sure if this occurred before or after they started making everyone recycle but its rather bad here. I didn't take pictures of the opened condoms. I'm sure they weren't used because they appeared to be far too large for a sicilian... The garbage around Venice wasn't this bad. Which leads me to ponder two things, either Venice-area citizens are paying for someone else to clean up OR Sicilians are just dirty.

Ciao!

So currently in Sicilia. My plane arrived on time AND my check luggage came in. It was a great surprise.

So the last few days :

Monday I had a going away dinner with my family and my bestie at Johnny's steak house. That place was amazing. I got to visit with my aunt Mary and aunt Teresa. It was a good time. Later that night I had my sister take me to the hospital because I had and still have this pain in my back/side in the kidney region. After being in the ER for four hours, I was sent home on antibiotics and lortab for an UTI.

Tuesday I went to the airport at 10am; my plane left at 11:15am. I bought and filled two very large suitcases. When I tried to check my bags, the both were over my 50lbs limit and I had to move a bunch of things out of one and into the other. One of my bags ended up being 64lbs and the other was 51lbs. I landed Wednesday morning in Sicily at 930 in the morning.

After I landed we ended up at the doctors office for my side/kidney thing. I'm still on the same stuff but the doctor here isn't exactly sure if I'm being treated for a bladder infection or a kidney infection. The military hospital is quite nice over here. And sense I'm not in the military they can't be dicks to me. :)

The boiler for the water broke. We didn't have hot water until about a half hour ago. The land lords put in an electric one for the time being. The part for the boiler is going to take ten days or more.

Today I woke up extremely nauseous. I have only been able to eat a little bit all day. I keep drinking tons of water. I've slept most of the day. However, Robby did wake me up so I could go play with some stray dogs. They were so cute. One was a black lab type and the other was maybe a golden retriever type. The golden one was very friendly and seemed like he was a puppy still. I'm hoping that I will get to foster a puppy that was found a few days ago.

I.O.W.A.

I am going to use the blog to share my travels with everyone. As most of you already know, I am leaving for Sicily, Italy in a few weeks. I plan on posting pictures and whatnot about what in that strange and foreign land.

Anyway!

Today I am in lovely Iowa City, Iowa and it is a fabulous day! My agenda : get brie. I've had a craving for brie and crackers. I have the crackers... but no cheese. So today I'm going to go on an epic trek to find some cheese. Wish me luck.
